DEADLINE APPROACHES TO APPLY FOR $100,000 SMALL BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY GRANT

Entries due September 6 for The World of Difference - helping visionary small businesses discover the benefits of information technology

SAN JOSE, Calif. (August 23, 2005) – U.S. small businesses have a chance to win $100,000 in information technology education, products and services by entering The World of Difference, a nationwide contest presented by the Small Business Technology Institute (SBTI) and Intel® Corporation. The contest is gaining an enthusiastic response from small businesses, community partners and Intel® channel members as they share their vision for creating a profitable, reliable and thriving future for small businesses using server-based information technology. There is no cost to enter the contest and the final deadline to register is September 6, 2005 at www.theworldofdifference.org.

The World of Difference contest contest is part of a six-month educational program that combines online tools and resources with hands-on learning events. Finalists will be invited to the award ceremony in early 2006, and the winning small business will be selected live on stage to receive a $100,000 credit with the Intel channel member, plus a $5,000 cash prize. Participating community partners (i.e. private, non-profit, educational and governmental organizations) earn a chance to win $25,000 in Intel-based technology, including server and mobility solutions, for referring the winning small business. The winning Intel channel member will receive $50,000 in marketing development funds from Intel.

The contest is open to small businesses located in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia with no more than 100 employees and revenue of less than $50 Million in 2004.
