Success Story

Pinnacle Physical Therapy is a one-man physical therapy clinic run by Niraj Hazari. After several years of working with various physical therapy clinics in the Bay Area, Niraj decided to strike out on his own and set up a clinic that would allow him to see patients for hour long visits and enable him to provide sustained care.

When Niraj first began, he manually executed all business processes in order to thoroughly understand his operations. In the process, he adopted several Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) to track contact information for patients, insurance providers & doctors, schedule patient appointments, and manage accounting and reimbursement.

As the practice steadily grew, Niraj realized he could only continue to manage his business using manual processes if his client base remained small. He needed a comprehensive medical management software tool specifically tailored to the medical industry that would integrate all contact information and allow him to manage scheduling, patient follow up, billing, reimbursement, and contract negotiation.

To date, SBDC TAP has assisted Pinnacle Physical Therapy with:

  • A comprehensive review of medical management software for single practitioner medical offices
  • Strategic advice for integrating basic business data (patient, insurance, doctor referrals) with business functions such as scheduling and billing to streamline operations and produce business intelligence
  • Review of full Medisoft implementation, which was completed in two weeks
  • Development of a back up system to prevent data loss
  • Recommendations for online, outsourced HR systems to handle payroll.

Pinnacle Physical Therapy was able to embrace information technology very quickly, and Niraj immediately saw the value of the new medical management tool. He now spends several hours less per day on non-patient work because the system has built-in the cross-referencing processes he previously had to manage. As doctors and patients continue to refer additional clients to him, Niraj now has the tools to simultaneously spend more time with his patients, and effectively scale his practice.
